City Feature: Mooresville
Welcome to Mooresville – a quiet suburb of Charlotte that effortlessly blends small-town charm with urban convenience. Located 30 miles north of Charlotte, in scenic Iredell County, Mooresville is known as “Race City” for its connections to NASCAR and proximity to various tracks across the Carolinas. With Lake Norman right around the corner, as well as activities and events that suit the whole family, there are so many reasons to call this charming city home.
History
Mooresville was founded in the early 19th century as a railroad town and developed around the train depot that still stands in the downtown area. Other notable landmarks such as Goodman Drug Co., W.C. Johnson Hardware and the old town hall can be seen along the self-guided, historic walking tour that begins at the Mooresville Public Library.
In the early 1990s, NASCAR moved in and established Mooresville’s reputation as a hub for motorsports. The growth of this industry continues to bring in economic prosperity, including the introduction of multiple tech companies and Lowe’s Home Improvement, a major NASCAR sponsor.
