Before another needle falls off the live Christmas tree, remove those ornaments and take the tree to one of many locations throughout Forsyth County for a recycling and mulching event. Free tree seedlings and vegetable seeds will be available January 8th (while supplies last) at several drop off locations.  
Residents of Forsyth County have made it a tradition to end the holiday season by recycling their Christmas trees during the “Bring One for the Chipper” annual event, sponsored by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful. A wood chipper then processes the recycled trees into mulch. “The number of Christmas trees recycled in Forsyth County grows every year, which is encouraging,” said Tammy Wright, the county’s environmental program manager. “Recycling the trees is good for the environment and provides mulch to cover walking trails as well as help the ground around plants retain moisture.”  Forsyth County residents have participated in Bring One for the Chipper since 1994 and have recycled more than 67,000 trees during that time.

Families in Milton’s initiated an annual tradition by preparing, placing and lighting more than 500 luminaries last year and the tradition will continue this year. The luminaries will line the streets by the entrance and throughout the subdivision.  This will be the second annual luminaries display for people to view. The entire subdivision participates and the luminaries provide an soft glow on Christmas Eve throughout the neighborhood. Your invited to drive the streets at sunset with your parking lights on. Kensington Farms is located on Kensington Farms Drive across from Milton High school.
